Introducing Cora Wright

Hi everyone! I’m so excited to be writing to you as a contributor this term.

Name: Cora (Hazel) Wright

Job Title: I am currently a recreational gymnastics Coach with Loyalist Gymnastics Club in Kingston, Ontario. I am a BA/Contributor this term for Ethereal & Co. As well, I write for NEDIC and will soon be published by Hopewell Eating Disorder Centre in Ottawa, ON.

Hometown: I was born and raised in Napanee, Ontario, though as a child I moved to New Brunswick for a year and a half. Currently I live in Kingston, Ontario, but I have lived all over Ontario.

Schooling: I am currently studying a diploma through SCI in Psychology/Social Work. I studied a BA in C.S. Education with a minor in music at Kingswood University in Sussex, New Brunswick (formerly known as Bethany Bible College).

My favourite quotations:

"Obstacles are the things you see when you take the eyes off the goal." – Ford

“If you’re not standing on the edge you are taking up too much room" – Unknown

The weirdest thing I’ve ever done on public transit: I was with a coaching buddy of mine in Toronto when a man came on to the subway with a stereo blaring. Instead of asking him to turn it down we broke out into a dance we were choreographing for our kids for parents night at the gym. We spun and flipped off chairs and seats and around poles. We had a blast! When the song was done we sat down like nothing had happened and continued our conversation. :)

How am I embracing the real her?: Lately, this means so much to me. Finding and embracing who I am without my ED and learning I am not my mental health problems. I have them. I have struggled knowing who I truly am outside of external influences. This last year for me has been one of introspection. I’ve learned to embrace parts of me that previous caused me anxiety and fear. I’m learning to listen to my body and my thoughts not those ones pushed into my head by others including my diagnosis of ED, cptsd, bpd and anxiety and panic disorders. I am Cora ! I am Zema Meytey Pema… a beautiful lotus flower.

I’m looking forward to sharing with you and again being involved with such a wonderful company. Thank you.
