Want vs. Need
I want to be happy. I want to be successful - to have a career that makes a difference. I want to live comfortably. I want a partner who gets me. I want cute clothes and cute shoes. I want to travel. I want a cute dog.
You are probably thinking “My my, Diem, you are greedy.”
I agree. Technically, I do not need anything except for the basic needs essential for life.
I choose to want things in life instead of needing them, because “need” sounds like a necessity. To need something, I am dependent on that idea or object - and without it, I cannot live.
I need to be happy. I need to be successful. I need to live comfortably. I need a partner. I need clothes and shoes. I need a dog.
None of those statements above are true because I do not need any of those thing to live as they are not essential for life.
