Affirmations for Building Self-Esteem

When I first started using affirmations, I felt like an imposter.

It could have been the feeling of trying something new, but calling myself a “goddess” or a “genius” wasn’t helping me build any confidence. It felt strange and uncomfortable.

I do feel that affirmations can be helpful, but they should be truthful and personal. They should also be attainable and positive; not make you feel unworthy.

I decided that I wanted my self-love journey to be a step-by-step process, rather than repeating someone else’s mantra and hoping one day it would solve all of my problems.

To help build self-esteem, I made my own list of affirmations. I’ve included what I call my Level 1 affirmations, designed to help spread positive thoughts and Level 2, designed for self-love.

Feel free to use them, change them and build on them however you see fit.

Level 1: Positivity

I am conscious of this moment.

I invite peace into my life and into my mind.

I am thankful for the life that I am living.

I am grateful for my mind, body and soul.

I take responsibility for the person that I am.

I will treat myself with respect.

I will express my needs and feelings.

I believe in my abilities and my ideas.

I am learning to improve each day.

I have the strength to follow my inner voice.

I will choose what gives me happiness.

I am capable of living the life that I dream of.

I can achieve all of my goals.

I know that I can succeed.

I am the only me.

Level 2: Self-Love

I love the person that I am.

I love the person that I am becoming.

I have faith in myself and my decisions.

I am in control of my life.

I will conquer any hurdle that lies in my path.

Use once a day at minimum, until desired affect is reached.

Take with kindness. Practice with fragility.
