Get to know us! We’re reintroducing ourselves – from our contributors to our co-founder and CEO!
Name: Cassidy Mann – but most people call me Cass
Job Title: I’m a Human Resources Coordinator for a heavy construction and mining company
Hometown: Edmonton, Alberta – Lets go Oilers!
School/Programme: I received my RPR (Registered Professional Recruiter) in October of 2017!
Go-to karaoke song: Karaoke is a thing of beauty. There is nothing I love more than getting in front of strangers (usually drunk ones) who think my version of Jolene by Dolly Parton is literally as good as Dolly herself. Music is the one thing in my life that grounds me. I play my own in my spare time but if I can get up in front of a group of people and rock a cover, my “go-to” will always be a good Country hit.
What makes you smile: BABY ANIMAL VIDEOS. Puppies, goats, kittens, piglets, ducklings waddling behind their momma. It makes me smile so hard that I generally start crying. I just love baby animals! (I’m tearing up thinking about them right now.)
How are you embracing the real you?: I’ve always been the type of person who cared too much what other people thought of me. I was constantly trying to please everyone around me and in turn it made me the most unhappy version of myself that I’ve ever experienced. A few months after I turned 25, I had an epiphany. It basically screamed at me “What the hell are you doing? If you’re unhappy, only YOU change it!” Something clicked and from then on I’ve been embracing who I truly am by living my life only by what makes me happy. Being the real Cass means singing my music without caring who likes it, walking around in my pyjamas if I want to without caring who sees me, going in public without make up (I never let myself do this before), saying what I feel without filtering out pieces because of offending someone, being friends with people that feel like sunshine. The list can go on and on. But I’ve lived by the quote by Dr. Seuss, “Be who you are and say what you feel because those who matter, don’t mind and those who mind, don’t matter.”
