It's Okay Not to Be Okay

Just a couple days ago I found out that I wont be getting my admission to write my finals and therefore not graduate which leads to me not going to university. Now I could repeat 12th grade but I'm not planning on doing so, since there are a lot more options than just going to university.

And I'm afraid.

What if it won't turn out the way I'm planning it to?

What if this is the wrong decision?

I'm not only afraid about what my professional life will turn out to be but also about what will happen with my friendships.

Will I stay friends with some, or all, of my current friends?

Will we lose contact?

There are so many questions and worries that only the future can answer and quite frankly, it's horrifying.

When someone asks us how we are, we are used to answer 'I'm okay' or ' I'm fine'. Even if that is not the case, but we do not want to burden others with our problems. Saying you're okay is easier than explaining what is wrong, right? So we end up keeping our problems to ourselves. More and more problems come up and we keep them all inside until it gets too much.

Do not let it get too much.

Life is tough.

Everyone gets too much at some point.

We are still humans, after all.

We become afraid of what the future has planned for us. In both personal and professional life.

We worry that we won´t get a job, a stable income.

We are scared to lose our friends after high school or any other education.

We feel like crying.

We don't want things to change but at the same time we do. And it's okay if it hurts.

Everyone tells us that we should be happy and grateful for life. That we should see everything in a positive light, but thats simply not possible.

It's okay to cry.

It's okay to break down.

It's okay to feel lost.

It's okay to not be okay.

Most importantly, it's okay to admit that you're not okay.

Talk to somebody about the issues that keep you up at night, a close friend or family member. Somebody you trust. They'll be there for you. Don't let your worries eat you up.

Friends are not only there to celebrate your ups

but to keep you from falling

when it comes to your downs.

Let it all out; your worries, your fears, everything.
